59-2127. Jurisdiction. Jurisdiction over proceedings under the Kansas adoption and relinquishment act including a proceeding to terminate parental rights pursuant to K.S.A. 59-2136, and amendments thereto, is governed by the uniform child custody jurisdiction and enforcement act, K.S.A. 23-37,101 through 23-37,405, and amendments thereto, except that in adoption proceedings, the notice provisions of K.S.A. 59-2133 and 59-2136, and amendments thereto, shall control.

1. Cited; whether the UCCJA (K.S.A. 38-1301 et seq.) applies to adoptions examined; jurisdiction, inconvenient forum examined. In re Adoption of Baby Girl B, 19 Kan. App. 2d 283, 286, 867 P.2d 1074 (1994).

2. Phrase "substantially in conformity with subsection (a)(1) through (4)" in KARA statute was surplusage for purpose of determining trial court's jurisdiction. In re Adoption of H.C.H., 297 Kan. 819, 304 P.3d 1271 (2013).
