5-503. The director of dispute resolution shall be appointed by the judicial administrator and work for the office of judicial administration. The director of dispute resolution shall be in the unclassified service under the Kansas civil service act. The director may be but is not required to be an attorney and shall be selected for appointment on the basis of the individual's training and experience in dispute resolution. The director shall administer the dispute resolution act and shall provide administrative and clerical assistance to the council. If the person appointed as director is an attorney, such person shall devote full time to the duties of the office of director and shall not engage in the private practice of law during the period such person serves as director.
